I’m thrilled to finally start my blog. I’m passionate about the world: travel, history, politics, art, music and culture. I seek to reflect and share my experiences and sensitivities as an ex-pat, world traveler, educator, attorney, activist and singer. I am a bicultural (NJ-Bo-NY) and bilingual Boricua – Latina. I’m the first in my mother’s family to go to college, and education, quite simply, transformed my life. In my work as an educator, attorney and activist, I seek to inspire others to go after their dreams. “Boriken” is the Taino name for Puerto Rico and it means “Land of the Valiant and Noble Lord” — apt characteristics for my people from the island and of diaspora. Word-smithing and history are two of my many passions, and so… here I am: Boricua Rising.
